Citizenship by descent documents

Research and document retrieval for citizenship files in Poland, Germany, Austria, Lithuania, Italy and Spain. Requirements depend on the route.

Citizenship applications require both an applicable legal route and documentary evidence. We assemble the evidence for Polish, Italian, German, Spanish, Austrian and Lithuanian citizenship applications: every generation linked by records, plus proof of the ancestor's citizenship.

Documents for descent applications

Many European countries grant citizenship to descendants of their former citizens. The supporting evidence often includes a document chain: civil and church records proving each generation, plus proof that the ancestor held citizenship.

What we assemble

Birth, marriage and death records for every generation, certificates of citizenship, residence and military records, and the archival confirmations consular offices ask for, in the order and format the authority expects.

Countries

Poland, Lithuania, Italy, Spain, Germany and Austria each have their own rules. Each country has its own guide: Poland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Austria and Lithuania. The first assessment is free.

Genealogical evidence and legal eligibility

A birthplace, surname or family tree alone does not prove citizenship. Rules differ by country and may depend on dates, naturalisation, residence and the legal status of each generation. Ask the competent authority or your legal adviser to confirm the route and checklist before ordering the full file. We provide research and document retrieval; we do not decide eligibility or guarantee approval.

Prepare the request

Send a family timeline, the records you have and the authorityโ€™s checklist or request for additional documents. We identify missing links, search for evidence and flag inconsistencies in names, dates and places. Certified copies, apostilles, legalisation and sworn translations are confirmed separately where required.
